A few months ago I posted about selling my new Martin Custom D-42 and buying a Martin 1937 D-28A Authentic.
I just sold the D-28A.
I had convinced myself before buying it that I could learn to play with that big FAT neck and taper (and 1 3/4" nut). It was all driven by the incredible TONE that guitar produced.
Well... my left hand just couldn't handle it. Some arthritis proved to make things uncomfortable after 15 minutes or so of playing. Loving the incredible tone wasn't worth the pain.
Luckily, I guess, I sold it quickly on our local CL and got all my money back. So I got to enjoy it for a few months without losing any money.
THEN... yesterday I received the Martin Custom OOO-18GE I ordered nine months ago and it KILLS! The custom features I ordered were the following:
* Mod V neck
* 1 11/16" nut
* 1935 Sunburst
* Deep body (adds 1/2" to depth for increased bass response)
It has definitely helped ease the pain of not making the D-28A work. I posted pics in the UMGF under the "D-28" Forum (still can't post pics in the FDP).
GAS is alive and well.

"(still can't post pics in the FDP)."
Is the pic size small enough? Even cell phone pics are too big now, they have to be resized to post them here.
Congrats on the new guitar!!

That's the issue I have, so then I just don't bother.

Congrats on the swap, 6. Sadly, we simply don't have the hard drive space to host modern fullsize photos. I don't even upload stuff here anymore, I use Flickr.

Funny, with my arthritis I prefer a big fat neck. I'm sure I would have loved that D28A.
But congrats on the GE. I've played a few, and they were all killer guitars.

UPDATE!
I purchased a new Martin '39 D-18A Authentic with VTS and I love it. Lots of rumble in my chest and I LOVE the neck and 1 11/16” nut!
Bought the guitar at Gryphon and had them install a K&K pickup. The guitar sounds fantastic both plugged and unplugged.
I’m now a happy dude again.

Here's hoping that this D-18A works out for you.
I recall that you sold your original D-18A due to it's 1.75" nut width. I almost ordered one online several times, just couldn't pull the trigger. If one of those were to ever come up for sale here locally I'd probably check it out.

Same here. The UMGF got to be pretty cumbersome, so I gave up on it.
Sweet guitar, though, 6. Congrats!

Thanks guys. You're right about difficulties with Tap A Talk.
It will only work on my MAC, not my iPhone or iPad. It was a real step backward for the UMGF when they went with that.

I finally got things sorted over there (as Bill knows). So is that an Adirondack top on the D-18? I do like the flamey mahogany back. While my current binding experience on the D-42 has soured me on Martins, I still look at different ones all the time online. It's a good thing there are no decent dealers within a couple hundred miles of me. I've never even played a Collings or Santa Cruz or any of the other competitors to better Martin guitars.

Yes Chris, my D-18 Authentic has an Adi top and was assembled with hide glue. Non adjustable t-bar in the neck.
Collings guitars are fantastic IMO. However, they sound nothing like their Martin equivalents, so try before you buy.
Sounds like you need to make a trip to Gryphon where they have all the guitars you mentioned in stock!
