What is that recurring and classic guitar phrase?

It seems very simple.

Muddy or Hendrix? If Muddy, it's basically A D A C A, guitar and bass an octave apart. You can harmonize it too, but that's the basic riff.

It was Muddy today but many version, Buddy Guy, etc. are similar.

That play, sing, play, sing thing really gets me.

BB King famously said (many times) that he cannot sing and play at the same time. I have pretty much everything he ever recorded, and he was right!

R.I.P., Mr. King.

It is also very cool that he admits that, and shows that he just went with it. Yea, you could shed obsessively until you can do it, but is it really worth it? Sing/play/sing is a style it's own, even, and that is cool.
