Hey e'budy. I'm installing a epi elitist HB in the neck position of my squire tele.
I'd like to keep my bridge pup as part of the combination. The existing pots are 250k. If I exchange the 250s with 500s will that make the bridge pup too bright?

"Too bright" is a matter of opinion. In your situation, some builders use a 300K or 330K volume pot as a compromise.

Or change the tone cap for the bridge pickup to a different value.

"...Or change the tone cap for the bridge pickup to a different value..."

stiggowitz is talking about a Tele, just one tone cap available with the standard 3-way switch.

Hmmmmm...

I used to have a USA Fat Telecaster. A standard Tele bridge pup and a Fender humbucker at the neck. I'm almost certain I had 500K pots in there. But somehow I managed to tame the Telecaster bridge pup. Thought that's how I did it. But it's a long time ago, so now I don't remember accurately what I did.

I ultimately tired of the Fat Tele deal and reverted to standard Tele ground with a Lindy Fralin Blues Special Tele bridge pup and a Lindy Fralin standard Tele neck pup. Changed out the tone pot to 250K and left the volume pot at 500K with a 4-way switch. Much better to my ears.

YMMV...
