One of my uncles passed away in 2017 just two days shy of his 100th birthday.

He was a highly decorated B-17 Pilot in WWII and completed 30 missions over Germany shortly after Memphis Bell accomplished the feat. And for his entire life he thrived on eating raw, uncooked hamburger.

You read that right.

When he was 98 he bought an airline ticket and flew unaccompanied from upstate NY to England to look at the base he flew most of his WWII missions from. Made it over and back with zero problems.

He also was using a chainsaw to the last day of his life to cut the firewood he used to heat his home. Went to bed that night and died in his sleep.

Most doctors would say eating raw hamburger in great quantities like my uncle would mean a quick trip to the graveyard. He clearly had something rare working in his favor.

Anyone else in FDP Land eat raw hamburger?

Groucho was known to enjoy steak tartar which is raw burger with a raw egg yolk. So there is a name for it. Guess maybe it isn't as rare as you thought.

About as ordinary as you can get.

My first USAF Missile Crew Commander used to eat raw hamburger all the time. He would make a large patty and would season it with salt and pepper. He let this sit for some time (1-2 hrs) and then ate it raw. He had other odd eating habits and he is a dentist to this day.

Well, it’s like roulette.
I guess most meat is clean.
Like when someone coughs on you. No big deal.
Unless you are in confined quarters and somebody with TB
coughs on you ten times
Also depends on your personal immune system.
I am not a medical professional, though, so disclaimer.
These days pork is cooked medium or rare in chi-chi restaurants. Trichnosis is rare these days if I understand.
