A few weeks ago my sister and I saw Dead & Co. for the second time. John Mayer amazes me—one of the best all-around musicians on the scene. A triple-threat guy who can write, sing, and play his ass off. End of story on him.

With all due respect to Bob Weir and his legacy, John is totally leading the charge along with bassist Oteil Burbridge (sp?) and a fantastic keyboardist. Bob seemed to have a rough night - bu c'mon, he's 71 years old and being on the road as a musician for 50+ years takes an amazing toll. He's got nothing left to prove, and a big part of me wishes he'd hang it up.

Anyone else see these guys recently? I've loved both shows. I never got to see the Dead live, but by the time I would've been old enough to go to a show they would've been very late in the game. Toward the end Jerry had some great nights and many awful ones. They were some of the most fun concerts I've ever been to, and strangers at the shows have been among the kindest, most disarming people I've met. It's like the land for misfit toys!

I saw them for the first time a few weeks ago in Chicago. I never saw the Dead, so I don’t have anything to compare against - but I was very impressed.

I like that Weir is still out there and I consider myself something of a Deadhead but it’s just wrong without Jerry.

My old college roommate (late 70's) caught them in DC. Said he could close his eyes and be transported back to the Dead in their prime. I took that as an amazingly positive review.

My wife is a fan, so we saw this band at E Troy, WI, Wrigley Field, Chicago, and Dodger Stadium in LA last year. This season we saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in LA and Wrigley Field again. John Mayer and Oteil shine in this mix. I 1st saw the Dead in 71 and think this current group sounds as good as this band ever did.
