I thought that this was interesting.
If you've never heard of it, or toyed with it, this may be your start.
The link includes another link that includes some short audio clips that get the point across without excess noodler wanking away (thank God).

I have a 6 - 12 string double neck Danelectro that I set the 6 string neck up with Nashville tuning. It's a cool thing to mess with. My only problem with the Dano is the balance between the strings. The G string is very weak compared to the rest. I could probably use a heavier gauge string and that may help but I think it might mess with the feel of the strings. I'll try it some day.

We have 3 acoustic strummers in our band. Sure wish one of them would go to Nashville tuning. It'll never happen and we are a country band.

Bbendfender: Why don't you do it if the others don't want to?
If it sounds good, then one of the others may be more eager to sign up.
Also, IMO if it's only for a couple of songs, you don't need a Goodall or a Santa Cruz.

I just now listened to the audio link you posted. Man, this sounds great. I think I'm gonna tune up one of my guitars to the Nashville tuning. Hope to convince on of the acoustic strummers to do the same to his guitar.
