I have watched the Woodstock live version of the bass player playing soul sacrafice and it appears he uses a couple of bass cords. Can anyone tell me what he is doing or how he is playing the cords.

Looking at 3:18 it seems to be a barre chord A major shape at the 5th fret with (going from low to high strings) A,D,A,D.
Probably the best rock concert ever. Carlos burns it up, but so does the entire band. He really plays off the drummer. Wow.

Doesn't sound or look like a chord there to me. Looks like he's fretting an A octave - E string 5th fret and D string 7th fret.
At 5:26 he's playing octaves again - A C C D C
