FDP Forum / The 'Pup' Tent / Dynasonic pickup instead of 2K

Extravaganza

Spain

Hello: I am Jose of Spain, it is my first message here!

I have a guitar DeArmond T400, I think its pickups are 2K. I have playing it for ten years and it is super, but in general I don't know much about guitars, I only have that. A friend has gived me two pickups. He says they are Dynasonic and they are from a new Gretsch guitar he bought and changed the pickups. They look the same size but I don't know if I can change them in my guitar. In what will be the sound different? Will the sound improve with Dynasonics?

The Dynas might sound better than your DeArmond 2Ks.

I say “might” because Gretsch’s Dynas have not been consistently good (some sound great, and some sound lackluster).

Also, 2Ks lean a bit toward a P90 tone, and tone being such a subjective thing, only you can say which pickup sounds better. The one thing that’s certain is they sound different from each other.

You lose nothing by swapping them in and playing them for a while to see if the difference is good or not.

Welcome to the FDP.

Hello:

It's good to know that the two pickups are very different. I'll change them and see if I like them more.

Sorry if mi English is bad. I didn't end school for family troubles and I am a street sweeper since 16, so I only had a few clases, and I started to study English alone at 42 when I got DeArmond because I wanted to learn about it and everything was in English. I still learning much.

Íñigo Montoya is name and surname, Jose is name and Spain is the country :-)
