Jon was eight days younger than me.
Our wives were into Celtic music.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years!

Yes, where's that time gone?
I too am now very much into Irish traditional music; a bunch a incredibly talented musicians seem happy for me to help add a bit of rhythmic accompaniment at their sessions every week, the music is absolutely joyous.
People, please make sure to have a full health check every year, don't leave anything to chance.
I was told at my '50' check up I didn't need a prostate check, as no symptoms, no family history. 4 years later still none of the standard symptoms but I decided to get it checked anyway. Waddaya know, I've got advanced, aggressive cancer, spread to spine, ribs, pelvis!
1 year on and following hormone, radio and chemo therapy, by the grace of god it's under good control and I feel fine (I did before!), still running and cycling, but the prognosis isn't great.
It could have been cured if I'd been tested earlier, and got it treated before it had spread.
So please, get a regular full health check, don't leave anything out, life is too precious a gift.

Hi Peter
Hope things continue to remain under control.
My younger brother is having his prostate removed today.

Thanks guys, my view is that I just have to keep well long enough for medical science to advance enough to keep kicking this down the road a bit further. And there's so much going on in this field that I'm not losing sleep over my cancer any more.
Roly, so sorry this nightmare has landed on your family too. But it's great that it's been caught early enough for surgery to be an option, and the robot assisted surgery and ever advancing techniques should give him every chance of a complete cure and full recovery.
It may only be 5 key hole incision points, but he's still had major abdominal surgery and will be hurting bad for a while.
Every day should bring improvement though, and in a couple of months he may be as good as new, nearly, and able to look forward to a cancer free future!
Best wishes to him, my prayers are with you and yours.

All good here Roly, still kickin'
That's fantastic news about your brother, what a weight off all your shoulders!
Until the clever folks can get immunotherapy or some other alternative developed, I'm probably stuck with my cancer, but at least all the treatments I've had are keeping it nice and sleepy, hopefully for a good long time yet.
Many thanks for the kind thought.
