Hello! Ok, yes there are some out there, black tolex I’ve seen with the 250 watt (!) head. But I found just a cabinet - sealed, red stained & heavy lacquer. The Google searching I’ve done does not find something like this.

Is this ‘rare’? A special edition? Any info or input appreciated.

And FYI the grill cloth comes off.
So I can replace the 2 ohm speaker.

Linky no worky.

The Jazzmaster Ultralight was a SS amp head that sounded pretty good. It was a stamped steel box with sunburst wooden end panels screwed on to dress it up. The 'matching' 1x12 cabinet was black Tolex. They couldn't give these things away when they were released.

While it is possible what you saw was a special order from the FCS (they'll make a customer anything for the $$$$), Fender didn't issue it as a production item.

Did the one you saw have the four little dimples in the top panel to keep the head from walking off the job?

Welcome to the FDP.

Pull serial, call Fender?

"Rare", probably.

Rare as in "suddenly worth more?"

Probably not.

Hi Peegoo, thanks! Yes it does have the four dimples in the top to keep the head snugged on top. And a black panel too I’ll have to investigate. The finish is really nice.

Guess your theory is good - probably a one off ordered from the factory. Wish you could see it!

And thanks reverendrob - maybe I will contact Fender. I'm thinking of modding it, so I am asking as I don't want to hear 'no, no, don't cut into that!' if it was really Fender special for some reason. (P.S., yes, I had already bought it, for $100 on Next Door).

You can try this new linky or the EDITED, non-mobile hyperlink at bottom - https://youtu.be/E2efHnLIb1M
Or open YouTube and search for Jazzmaster cab. It's the red one.

Colby, you can easily change out the 2 ohm speaker for an 8 ohm or even a 4 ohm, or 16 ohm if needed.
