I’m not, but I’ve pretty much wrecked my right arm. My left hand is much more dexterous with greater strength and stamina. I’m wondering if this is usually the case associated with handedness.

Is your right or left hand dominant this way and is it associated with your handedness?

I'm definitely right handed though I shoot long guns lefty because I'm left eyed. I'm a poor pistol shot left handed.

IMO pure ambi would require you to be able to sign your name or throw a ball with either hand. I can't do that well. Dexterity is the root word there.

RH all the way, except when I toss small objects into the trash, which I often do lefty. I think I might have bursitis in my R shoulder.

To the contrary, my left hand is good for fretting, balancing something I’m holding in my right hand, and little else.

Im a lefty, left eye dominant. Shoot left, play guitar right. Golf (miniature) right with the occasional left, can bat left or right (favor right).

I'm not ambidextrous.

I'm right-handed, but also right "footed": I surf (and used to skateboard) with my right foot forward (or "goofy-foot"). Most right-handed people surf left foot forward and most goofy-foot surfers are left-handed.

Some guys go to the trouble of learning to surf "switchfoot", switching left foot to right foot forward or visa versa on-the-fly, but I never bothered. Certain situations sometimes arise in surfing where facing the wave, rather than having your back to it, can be an advantage.

I wonder if fretting or picking of the instrument is equal, it would seem, to me, that the dominant hand would be better utilized on the fret board rather than plucking the stings. The argument is the finesse of the finger picking is more tedious than the fretting. That the bowing of the violin requires more stamina than the fingerboard.

Playing a left handed instrument was never an option, I started so young. I never understood how the violin was going to make me a guitar player, I just assumed that Elvis had to learn the violin too. I was pretty ignorant when I was 7.

I honestly thought that right handed instruments where left handed. Their is a lot of information and studies about does it really make a difference, with no conclusive results. Their are a lot of great lefties playing right handed instruments. Left handed pianos are almost unknown.

It probably makes a difference when you start. I figured that early forms of guitar playing was more of a flamenco style with a tremendous amount of finger picking the style. Consider Mark Knopfler‘s right hand playing, it means little that he’s left handed.

In my case if I had started playing left handed instruments eventually I would have had to learn how to play right handed because of the damage I’ve done to my right arm.

It still seems to me that the left handed player has an advantage on the right handed instruments.

I chose to play right handed instruments on the advice of a friend who'd been playing a few years.

"You'll thank me later, you really will."

And twenty-some years later, I still do!

I only write left-handed but pretty everything else I can do righty.

I've done full-on Inigo Montoya "...but I am not right handed!" pistol shoots for cash and won right handed.

And then proceeded to do it lefty on the same targets.

I shoot *mildly* better left-handed, but that's a factor of maybe 5-10% and my baseline is ridiculous.

I'm left handed and left eye dominant, but play right handed. By the time I learned that playing left handed was actually an option, starting over seemed like more trouble than it was worth. I also scratch my left elbow right handed.

I skim boarded before I started either skate boarding or surfing. For some reason, I did that left foot forward but the other two righty.

I'm sure that if I were to pick up a skimboard (which I haven't done since I was about 11 or 12), I would automatically do it righty.

I walk the dogs right-handed...

I’m right handed and regular footed in board sports, however left foot dominant in soccer, which is a little wierd. I can do things with my left and and for a while tried to “switch hit” but am definitely not truly ambidextrous.

My left arm is generally stronger than my right though, possibly from breaking my R wrist so many times. Grip strength definitely stronger on the left likely due to playing guitar so long.

I shoot a gun left-handed (or right handed...not that I shoot often) and I also deal cards left-handed.

Other than that, I'm pretty much right-handed.
