I mean, isn't he a high profile detective that has had tons of media coverage over the years?

Other than that I'm enjoying the latest season for the most part. Some good actors and good characters.

I love the show and am willing to overlook the occasional, minimal flaws. The one-liners and cop shop banter alone are worth the price of admission.

Have found far more glaring challenges to credibility in many other series/movies of the genre (and I've watched many). In general, I find it to be head-and-shoulders above the rest of the pack

We finished Season 5 recently and are currently binge re-watching 1-4 (which we watched previously as they were released).

Just finished Season 5 yesterday so no spoilers. But the undercover thing? Yeah.

One that stuck out for me in season 3: Bosch goes into the interrogation room to interview a guy wearing his piece. Wouldn't it be protocol to secure the weapon outside the interrogation room?

I'm still marveling at how he get's those hot women -- he's not exactly a studly looking dude. And he's not much of a charmer either.

"Wouldn't it be protocol to secure the weapon outside the interrogation room?"
I see that not infrequently on TV shows.

I get the same uncomfortable feeling when detectives are interviewing a suspect in his own home, and allow him out of their sight, as in, "that photo is back in my bedroom ... I'll go get it for you."

I'm reading "City of Bones" right now which is, I think, what inspired the first season of Bosch.

He tells the young lady in bed with him about his time as a tunnel rat in Vietnam. Says that while wriggling through a dark tunnel, he and a VC came face to face. "We both fired at the same time".

He tells her that the VC's bullet went down the barrel of his 1911 .45 Colt, which accounted for the odd recoil he felt when he fired.

He goes on to tell her that he examined the .45 when he got above ground and found the VC's bullet still snagged in the barrel.

I'm thinking it would have been more than an "odd recoil" if his round went off, but never cleared the muzzle because it was plugged with the other bullet.
