MJB - is that a "gender reveal" reference? I've never heard of using candy bars - just pink and blue balloons released from boxes...

I was reading a story about a boy who was using a gender neutral bathroom at school because he had bad digestive problems and was embarrassed. The teacher made all kinds of assumptions, filled his mind with all kinds of notions, sent him home with books and pamphlets about transgenderism. Parents confronted the school and they still didn't relent.

"But if people are now raising their kids "genderless" - how do you have a Gender Reveal Party (GRP)? "

Because its not the same people. It's two different groups of insane, time wasting people.

When I was a teenager, we only had to figure out how to relate to the ONE other gender (not that that wasn't a challenge).

I feel sorry for kids today what with the bewildering landscape they must attempt to navigate in this regard.

"Reveal Party"?

Sounds perilously close to "indecent exposure" unless done in the privacy of one's own domicile...

When I worked patrol in West Hollywood back in 1974 or so, we responded to "gender reveal parties".

Ordinarily, this would be where the John paid a prostitute for services, and when he pulled around the corner to collect his prize, he got an unwelcome "gender reveal".

The result was usually a badly battered he/she pro, who was a victim of buyer's remorse.

Is that "buyer's remorse" or "bi-er's remorse"?

My wife went off the rails when she found out that her daughter was planning on raising her daughter as "gender neutral".
She was also afraid to tell me, as she figured I'd make a big stink about it.

I think she just plans on raising the kid in a manner that gives the most options - basically, "you can do whatever you want in life" sort of thing.
My wife wants the girl to wear pink and be a girly girl. Haha...this could get ugly.

I'm looking for a new car with a self-identifying transmission so I can put my gender into:

•G1

•G2

•Neutral

•Reverse

Any recommendations?

My son and dil just had a gender reveal party for their new baby due in August. We watched on video chat. It's a boy! Kind of fun. Got no problem with it. Obviously for them, genders are separate. PTL!

To me it's just another example of the "Look at Me!!!!" generation. Just a way to be the center of attention again. My niece had one with a cake that had blue M&M's inside. Yawn. I did not go...saw it on facebook and commented to Mrs. Slacker because I had no idea what the significance of the picture of a cake with blue M&Ms was. That was the first I'd heard of a GRP.

Even when my kids have kids, my interest in the gender is moderate at best. I'll skip the party...just let me know when you feel like it. Boy? Ok. Girl? Ok. It's just not that big a deal either way to me.

Now if they serve beer and have Hawkeye football playing I'll be happy to spend a few hours...

Heard a new designation yesterday...

LGBTQ2

Two - as in “two-spirited”

They seem to add a new designation on a regular basis.

If a man has a sex change to become a woman, but then decides that his sex partner preference is female, does this mean he/she is a lesbian or simply someone whose chances of finding a date on Saturday night just went up 50 percent?

And who pays for dinner?

Taildragger,

That article proves you can't make some people happy, no matter how hard you try...

...and, can we still call them "people"?

...and, I'm nervous even using the word "hard" in the above sentence...

I believe "persons" would be less offensive...

"Waitress"? Inappropriate!

"Server"? Offensive!

From here on in, it's GOT to be "nourishment-delivery personnel".

As in when you suss out a new restaurant: "Are members of the nourishment-delivery personnel staff hot?"
