Bummer. I don't know if he invented it, but he was the first I ever saw do the knees in the shoes thing to imitate a short person.

Never gets old.

His characters were the best on Carol Burnett.

Just heard this a bit ago. His stuff with Harvey Kormann was hilarious. I didn't like the show all the much but loved the bits between those two.

It makes sense but let's do it anyway...

My Dad had a good sense of humor but NEVER laughed out loud to anything on TV. But he laughed out loud a LOT to Tim and Harvey. Reason enough for my to treasure them both. Loved the Carol Burnett show.

Tim Conway is easily in the top five all-time best performers of physical comedy. Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, and The Three Stooges are the other four acts.

I cannot think of anyone else in this league except perhaps Rowan Atkinson, and Jim Carey...but he does not have the concept of subtlety in his scope of performance--which is essential for brutally funny physical comedy. Belushi was funny too, but like Carey, he couldn't be subtle.

Rest in peace, Mr. Conway. Thank you for the many years of laughs.

Imagine making an entire career out of making people laugh. Just think about that for a minute. It's impossible!

Here's one of the classic "bits". They say he used to ad-lib all kinds of stuff and spring it on his unsuspecting, fellow cast members. In this one, Coreman makes a valiant, if futile attempt to hold it together and keep a straight face...

...to no avail:

That happened several times on that show. They would get what my dad used to call "the silly giggles," where you get tickled about something and can't stop laughing.

another video, Tim describing siamese elephants 'joined at the trunk'.

The man was lethal weapon of humor. His co-stars are near death from oxygen deprivation, and I already spit up my coffee watching this just now.
