I don't think I've tried any JP strings since my 70's Guild days. Hard to articulate but I really like these strings. Balanced, not too zingy, not bass heavy, just good old fashioned 1970's akoostick geetar sounding. Think I'll try these on the Martin next.

I have Pearse strings on all my acoustics, they sound great right out of the package and they last a long time.

Gave up on Martin strings some time ago, dull and inconsistent.
Now my default strings are D'Addario.
On the suggestion of Stefan Grossman, ordered the JP strings. Anxious to try them out.

They are my favorite strings for acoustic. I bought a jag of Martins for a good price and I can't wait to burn through them all so I can return to the JP 80/20s.

I put a set of John Pearse strings on my 00-18V, and they sound incredibly good.
First time I've ever used them, but I read about them here. Can't remember what kind they are, but I am impressed.
They feel different than the Elixirs I usually use, but not in a bad way. Good strings, I like them.

Yup. I've voted for them here via various threads. Years ago after doing a round-robin of many brands/types of strings, I settled on the John Pearse stuff. Definitely like 'em. They play well, sound good, and last for a good while, too.

I am often confused..
perhaps you may be too..but this may also be a simple matter of trying other strings and making new choices...
Discussing his string choices on his "Woodshed" discussion group on his web site Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop:
July 9, 2008
"Correct, on my Franklin Jumbo I use John Pearse Bronze Light Gauge"
Jan 6, 2014
You Tube video entitled "Stefan Grossman and His Franklin Guitars"
At 17:38 Speaking about string choices:
" ..I use regular Light Gauge 12-54 80/20 bronze.. not too crazy about coated strings.. not too crazy about phosphor bronze... I just like straight 80/20s"
Sept 18, 2018
On his Woodshed Discussion group on the subject of Stefan Grossman's choice of strings:
" I use DR Light Gauge VERITAS strings, non coated. I find them lasting months and still sounding great."
1st....John Pearse bronze.
Next...80/20 bronze not phosphor
Next...DR phosphor bronze.
I'll explore this further.
BTW the DR VERITAS have hex core wire on the wound strings . I have not tried them.
