A local shop has a Parallel Universe Nashville Elite Tele and I'm hoping to try it out tomorrow.

I'm not into vintage features (for Teles or Strats) and this Tele has every feature I would want (and is more "custom" that anything the CS sells).

I have a Baja black guard style Tele. This Parellel Uni model might put me back to owning two Teles.

Peegoo - That's cool looking! I like the pup combo. Is that a roasted neck? Broiled, baked or fried? (;oD

Other than a electric baritone and a 12-string, I don't NEED another guitar either.

HOWEVER - The same store (local indie store) has the other Parallel Uni Tele I posted about last month (the orange semi-hollow with Filtertron pickups, etc.).

I've been afraid to try these out, until now (I can actually buy one without my wife going on a rampage).

Did you notice that Tele has a *spoke wheel* truss rod adjuster at the heel of the neck? I love these because you can tweak the neck relief without removing it. Peavey and a few other makers have used these for years.

Peegoo - Of course you can do the same thing with the truss rod adjustment access above the nut, something that's been around since the early 70's.

Why do I keep fixing things that work?

That is one sleek/sumptuous looking guitar!!!
Would really like to get a feel of the neck and how the pickups sound before committing to owning one of these, but the stats are all inline with what I would like in a modern model.
Wonder if I can get my mitts on one at our local GC and try it out.
The gray bottom neck and middle pickups are really nice but would have to hear how the Shaw bucker sounds and reacts with the other pickups.
I have never played or heard the Shaw bucker and have heard 'blah' reports on them but without context and comparisons, it's hard to tell.
That is my only reservation, but I have many other 'f' spaced humbucker pickups that might pair up well with the middle and neck pickups, as they are known to be expressive and aggressive and for a Tele, that is what I like!
Sweet, just Sweet!!!

The pup choices concern me

The Tele bridge in the middle position?

Tele Bridge pups are naturally wound hot (even the most traditional windings are considered hot when compared to a strat pup) and full of mids!

So you have that hot and very middy pup right in the middle picking up even more mids? How does that balance with the neck pup?

I'd have to play it... But I think that guitar probably doesn't sound a thing like a traditional Tele. Not that there is anything wrong with that.. the looks of it state " its a very practical all around guitar)

The "neck dive" aspect made it a no go for me. It played pretty good, but wasn't even close to the Parallel Uni Deluxe Telecaster in playability.

ps - As of yesterday, there's used Nashville Elite HSS for sale by a local store that also sells gear on Reverb.

I just saw one in a local music/pawn shop, looked totally new. Very nice guitar, same as 5Strats picture. Lots of switching options for sure. Will it do anything I can't do with my other guitars? Not really, but it felt very nice and was beautifully done. Price was $1250. Less than any on Reverb or anywhere else.

I'm a-thinkin' on it!

I'm still mulling it over. I had been looking at a Baja tele which has many switching options as well and for a lot less money. I'll make my decision early tomorrow. If I take too long, the Elite may be gone.

Went back yesterday to give the guitar another test run. I did like the various pickup options, the neck was very comfortable and the finish was beautiful. Now the bad part: the owner gave me a price of $1300 out the door. I had been prepared to go $1200 or even $1250. He wouldn't budge, so I passed. There is just a point where I don't feel I'm getting a good deal. I liked the guitar, but not at $1300. Going back to GC to look at the Baja Tele I originally had in mind.
