too many guitars and not enough hands

Yep seen a lefty mid 60's fender telecaster custom not a reissue but a real one. At a local guitar shop.

Some ladies got it on consignment

only thing its been heavily modded its got a humbucker in its gut a changed neck pup and 70 tuners on it

i nearly fell over when i was told what she wanted $16k i said without really going over it maybe $5k or $6k but it would have to be a player.

still looks uber cool though.

She also had a 69 black beauty les paul in there arighty thats been converted to a lefty they cut the top corner out so its more like double cut but a gretsch malcolm young double cut she wants $20K never

Nothing wrong with starting out high...the right buyer may see it and want it.

But reality will probably settle in and the prices on those will come down. Modded vintage guitars like that lose a lot of their value unless they have some famous-person provenance attached to them.

I've got to go back there in a couple of weeks i might give them a play if they are still there.

The Tele has potential... but not for 16K.

The LP looks better than I thought it would - they put on the binding, and somehow moved the knobs and switch (?). Wonder who did that work?

To think Jimi had those lefties available at the time and he still opted to play flipped righties.

I doubt there were any lefties just hanging on the walls at guitar stores; they probably had to be special ordered by the store, then you wait several months for one to be built...maybe Jimi didn't want the hassle of that.

Probably too hard for him to plan ahead and have a new one built at the right time to replace the one he's going to burn at the show tonight...

Jimi actually owned a couple of true lefties--a Strat and Flying V to name a couple--but he opted for the righty Strats in concert because he was more use to the whammy bar location.

Also i believe Jimi used it as part of his shtick.

Think about it Man look at the guy play his guitar it's upside down!!

Not that he needed that with his guitar skills

but man it looks cool
