Guthrie Govan is crazy good player. Check out his impressions of 20 famous guitarists (it's only a little over 5 minutes long).

I don't care that much for the last one, but some of these are very spot on:

Guthrie is a MONSTER player.

While some of the styles do sound like the specified player, others don't, and I think it's due to the player's characteristic choice of notes, whether chords/groups or arpeggios/runs. Some are spot on.

He's a monster for sure. Love all the impressions. Most are pretty good. They are heavily Guthrieized, which is ok.

I hate to be that guy, but the tone was a big detractor for me here. And as a technical master, his shredder impressions were much better than the "raw" kinda guys like Jimi and BB.

Still a great accomplishment though and fun to listen to.

British guitarist Chris Spedding recorded a tune in the late 70s called Guitar Jamboree, where he copped the styles of several iconic players.

Spedding played on many sessions as well as his own stuff. Most players have never heard of him because he was never part of a blockbuster band. But he definitely had the chops.

Here. He does a pretty good impression of 'em.

Thanks for posting that Peegoo, I'd not heard that Chris Spedding song in ages.
