FDP Forum / Guitar Mods, Repairs, and Projects / Nexk plate - diamond anniversary american jazz bass

Feb 16th, 2019 12:21 AM   Edit   Profile

Hii i have had the 60th Diamond Anniversary Jazz bass since it was released and for most of this time the guitar has been stored in its hard case in a bedroom (away from heat and light sources). However i have noticed today the rear neck plate with the diamond anniversary engraving a crack running through it from one corner across around a third of the plate. I was wondering if there was any way of sourcing a replacement?

I’ve tried fender direc and no joy

Is the plate cracked? If so, the only way to get a replacement would be from another bass of the same model. Fender doesn't sell this stuff.

If it's just the chrome plating that's cracked (it does happen), you can get it re-plated at a custom motorbike shop.

Why not post this on the Bass section?

"Why not post this on the Bass section?"

Because its about a guitar part repair, as opposed to the guitar itself. This is the correct category.

If I'm not mistaken, the same plate was used for at least the 4 staple Fender instruments for 2006, so a replacement may be easier to find than you might think at an online reseller that parts out used instruments.
