Marg plays squeeze, whistle, and violin in a Celtic band.
When given a song to learn.....Marg puts on the cans, plays a recording of the song, gets her staff paper out and WRITES OUT THE WHOLE DAM SONG without picking up an instrument.

If I fart.....Marg goes to the piano and plays the note that is closest to the pitch of my emission.
She is never wrong.

Your piano reference may not be poetic, but DANG if that's not true love--I don't know what is.

I think you are right Mr Goosley.

Marg can also pull harmony vocals out of the air.
Nope....nope...I'm not even remotely jealous...:>)

What is "Things to do in Whitehorse in February?"

Single piano notes? Mine are more a like Db/D/D# dischord.

Send one to Rick Beato, uch. He should be able to give the full breakdown.

Reminds me of part of the Mozart legend. There was a piece of music, the "Miserere Mei Deus" (God Have Mercy On Me) by Gregorio Allegri, that was considered so sacred by the Catholic church that copying the score was strictly forbidden, and it was only allowed to be performed at particular services in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.

Wikipedia continues:

"...According to the popular story (backed up by family letters), fourteen-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was visiting Rome when he first heard the piece during the Wednesday service. Later that day, he wrote it down entirely from memory, returning to the Chapel that Friday to make minor corrections..."

This a piece for five intertwining vocal parts that's over 10 minutes long.

My conclusion is that some people are just from another planet.

I love that Mozart story.

I studied some formal ear training, so I can usually get pretty close. But "never wrong" is not part of my vocabulary.

most people have relative pitch not perfect pitch
That means if a note is played and that note is known then they can pick out an unknown note based on the interval from the known pitch

I cant do either... I can ball park the relative pitch note and sometimes get it but not consistent enough to claim I can do relative pitch

I’ve got the bodily emissions thing down!

Perfect pitch? Uhhhh, NO!

Pretty talented that Marg.
