My 85 Rosewood Tele is very ice picky in the treble arena. Any builders making a set to balance out the treble from the large mass of Rosewood?

An inexpensive option is a Fender Texas Special Tele pickup set if you can find them 2nd hand.

TS pickups are slightly hotter than typical vintage-voiced Tele pickups, and most Tele aficionados agree the TS units are not really a traditional-sounding pickup.

They do exhibit reduced highs and slightly elevated upper mids; they do cut through a mix because of their voicing.

Read up on 'em and see if they might be your cuppa tea.

Thanks Peegoo! I will read up on those TS pu's for sure. I do have an opportunity to purchase an original 72 bridge pickup. Would that steer me in the right direction? I could live with the neck the way it is.

Mars, it's difficult to say what that '72 pickup will sound like because at the time, their sound was not consistent enough to easily bin them into a specific tone category.

Something in the range of 8-10k dc will be less treble & more growl.

Texas Specials with Neck Pickup: 9.5K. Bridge Pickup: 10.5K is a good choice.

I have a set in an American Special, very nice, and very versatile, can do all genre.

a 1972 pup I'd think would be around 6.5-7.5k
and full of twang! (still very versatile) probably got raised pole pieces? for that classic Fender Tele mid bump.. twang and growl.
