Haha, good idea, Lefty!

The world would be a better place if everybody had a Telecaster in their whirlpool tub.

Yeah...fill the tub, turn on the whirlpool jets, maybe add a humidifier to the room in addition...

...and...

(You think you got problems...)

Pretty soon your guitar will look like this...

Whoa, that's sad to see, stratcowboy!

Is that a photo from the Nashville flood a few years back?

That one hurts to look at.

The warehouse that flooded, which contained many rare/valuable/famous guitars and basses belonging to famous and not-so-famous people, also contained violins, violas, and upright basses. Most of these completely unglued and turned into what looked like a kit of parts. Very very sad.

Drum kits were also damaged beyond repair.

Can't remember where I found this photo. It is certainly not mine. In NM you'd literally have to strap a guitar to the bottom of a hot-tub to get it to look like this. Radical, for sure. Back after that Nashville flood, I had sent the manager of the Guild/Fender custom repair facility in Nashville this shot (and a couple of others). He said that they got a number of instruments post-flood that looked like this and he claims they were able to save some of them. Judging by the work they did on my high-end Guild (a warranty repair required a completely newly built and re-fitted neck--literally from scratch), I believe him. They actually started my repair by sending me photos of the pieces of wood they were using to build the new neck. It was pretty amazing. There are some talented luthiers out there.

I'm shopping for a new pick guard, and am undecided. Should I get another tortoise p/g like the old one, or maybe a white pearloid p/g for a new look?

I think I like black for that guitar. White pearloid would be a nice and different look.

Black would be very basic. NTTAWWT.

I'll think about black.

The new pick guard is on, and some fresh strings as well.

I looked everything over while removing the old bowed pick guard and can only conclude the the body shrank just a little bit due to the very dry conditions where I live. It's been sitting out on a stand in my office for a year or more; guess I'll move it into my guitar room where I keep a humidifier running.

I like the new p/g. Sorry for the huge photo, not sure why it did that.

I'm going to plug 'er in right now and see how she sounds.

Noice!!!

I'm a sucker for white pearloid 3-ply!

I had to stop myself buying white pearloid because it was becoming too common a theme in my builds & mods ;^P

However I *am* thinking about a black pearloid on a future build. Hey, it's not white, right?

Oh yeah, that is very nice! That white pearloid is just right for that Tele. I had suggested black but now that I see this one...great!

Nice!

So, if the body shrank, did the new pg’s holes line up correctly?

Yeah, I'm curious about the alignment of screw holes on the new pickguard too.

I would have gone for another tort but the white pearloid looks very elegant.

"Elegant" - that's the word for it.

This one is from Warmoth. Not sure of the brand of the first one, although it's a very good p/g. Three of 8 holes lined up perfectly, two were very close, and three I had to re-drill. So some of that is from the shrinkage, and some from it being a different brand.
