Ask me how I know!?

I just scrolled through the various threads here in this "jam" section of the FDP. I probably didn't go back as far as I should have, but there's still time. I mainly looked at the threads with large number counts, because almost every one I was involved in, for some reason, generated a lot of discussion. I don't mean anything by that! ;)

Long ago, I lost track of the number of FDP jams I've been to. At one time, someone mentioned that I might have the record; I was going for it, anyway. Scrolling through the threads and pages of this particular forum, brought back so many memories, memories of great talented people I've met because of the FDP, some of them gone now, sadly....

If you've been to a large number of FDP jams in the past, I highly recommend that you "refresh your memory" by taking an hour or two to take a look back at the past! A whole lot of memories for me, and others I'm sure, are stashed in here, for the time being, anyway. Hopefully the FDP will keep on going, so that these memories don't eventually become forgotten history!

Very good post Bill!

I've tried to stay in touch with some of the folks from the very first Jam we had here in Atlanta. (1999)
And have tried to get them to attend the Jams I've hosted here at my place and other places!

But,
I understand them being younger and having a growing family with all that entails!

and playing with their own bands changing their priorities for getting to make the Jams.

It's A Good Read! And a cool way to pass some time!

After I attended a few Clamfests in New Jersey, I started an FDP jam in DC that will hold it's fourth consecutive year this March. It wouldn't have happened without the assistance and participation of certain FDPer's, some of whom have driven long distances (thanks, guys).

But I realized that the event would need new people from the local community to thrive, and that many of those folks (trending younger) probably wouldn't be joining us graybeards online at the FDP. Different interests, different generations.

So we have evolved a small jam community that is a hybrid of FDPers and locals. Every year I wonder if there is enough interest to pull off the jam, but so far there has been.
