This wss one of those "why didn't I think of this before" moments.
The group in the linked video is a piano trio and they play and improvise over "modern" songs just like all those jazz players did back in the 40s, 50s etc etc.
The song linked below was an eyeopener to me simply because I am so familiar with the tune.
Wonder what my musical life might have been like if our school music teacher had played this type of thing for us when I was young.
