FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Stratocasters / What color ink did Fender use for the neck heel date stamps on pre-CBS guitars?

As sort of an explanation, I'm partially color blind so I can't tell the difference between certain colors. I wanted to know what color was the ink that Fender used to stamp the heel on the necks of guitars for pre-CBS guitars and if it changed to black post-CBS.

this website http://www.guitarhq.com/fender.html says it was dark blue or red. However, when I take a look at the stampings (at least for guitars made after the CBS buyout in 1965) it looks like the color was black. See link

So did Fender use red or blue for pre-CBS guitars, and black for post CBS guitars, or did the blue or red darken to look black? Thanks for the help

Leo Fender, being a notrious cheapskate... more than likely used whatever was available.

Thanks so much guys. I appreciated that. Seriously, I was looking at these and thinking it was my partial color blindness that made me think it was black. So that website is wrong then. oh well. least it got cleared up.
