FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Stratocasters / 78 Strat trem replace

Our '78 Strat's Trem is shot, frozen, stripped screws etc. Needs replacing.

Will the Allparts unit 0200-010 vintage bridge fit this guitar?

It certainly ought to.

Measure the string spacing on your guitar. The Allparts assy. is 2 and 3/16 inch string spacing.

I once bought an Allparts trem block under the assumption it was steel. If it was, it wasn't magnetic. This may not be the case of the block in the specified trem unit, but the on line prices of the assembly specified are pretty low end.

Apologies. I forgot to post the Allparts link.

Yes, same string spacing. Just wondering if perhaps someone else may have used this part on this vintage US built Stratocaster.

The owners really don't want to go the expense of the Fender or aftermarket upgraded units.

Thanks for your input.

There are at least two measurements to check.
1) String spacing.
2) Mounting/hold down/whatever screw spacing.

This was covered not long ago in here.
The Callaham site (and maybe Peegoo's "library") has a picture detailing it.

Thanks for the tips and sources. Peegoo's photo details it really well. Allparts does not list pivot screw spacing, so I'll take a chance that it's the same as the string spacing....same as ours.
