FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / guitar strap letting neck drop

I have a tele and the strap I bought for it keeps letting the neck slide down. Just wondering what I could put on back side of strap to keep it from moving

About as ordinary as you can get.

You may want to try a wider strap. I have a Tele with an old B-bender on it and I use a strap that is close to 4" wide. Works great and is comfortable.

It's all gravy from here on...

Use a suede strap. I use one for my SG's.

You could try a wide neoprene strap. Some people complain that those stick to your shirt, but it sounds like that's what you want.

Alternatively, you could glue some 36 grit sandpaper to your existing strap. This works best if you play shirtless.

Results not typical.

Do not try this at home.

Yep. Suede is the bee’s knees.

Can’t beat a single-ply top grain leather strap with a smooth front and a rough unfinished back.

Even the most troublesome SGs won’t neck dive with one on there.

Thank you everyone for your input, I especially like the one about 36 grit sandpaper lol
