New Acoustic Guitar Day - again - tomorrow!

Sheesh! I didn't plan it this way; it just happened that my custom Martin J-18 got finished around the same time as what I'm getting tomorrow - a Martin Standard Series J-40.

The J-18 was around 2 months early (which is fine by me). I really thought the J-40 would arrive first.

Anyway - it will arrive sometime tomorrow from My Favorite Guitars in Surprise, AZ (ordered it through Jon and Sharon there - great folks and absolutely the best rock bottom prices on Martins).

I'll have a lot more to say tomorrow or Saturday after it arrives and I have time to play it a bit (and shoot a few pics).

The J-40 will definitely be the most high end guitar I've owned (several hundred $$ more than my J-18 even though that was through the Custom Shop). Looking forward to experiencing this level of Martin... and hearing how it compares to the mahogany J-18.

From Martin's website - the J-40 (2018)

Sweet, did you ever see Jon’s guitar? Asked him how many he owned, ya know, his business being My Favorite Guitars. He had one, if I recall it was D-18 and man was it used, it also was totally understandable once you heard the thing. He’s not in Naples anymore, I think he’s up around Wildwood FL now.

I used to ride over to Naples occasionally and swing buy My Favorite Guitars to visit with Jon and Sharon. He played coffee house gigs with all kinds of people and I’d show up. It was a couple hundred miles round trip from Homestead.

hushnel,

He and Sharon have moved their business to Surprise, Arizona (to be closer to kids/grandkids, I believe). That happened sometime earlier this year, I think.

I talk to Jon about a year ago,I haven't seen him since I retired. Thanks for the heads up. I might have tried to find him on the way down to Homestead next week.
