FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / American Original 60's Tele

I am in the market for a Telecaster. Played several different models and necks at a couple different stores this weekend and so far the American Original 60's is what feels the best to me. It has a rosewood 9.5 radius "vintage" C neck.

I'm also sold on the rosewood versus the maple neck on any tele.

I contacted Fender to see if any of their other models have this same neck. The rep told me that there are three types of C necks, the "vintage" on the American original 60's just mentioned, the "modern" C, and a plain C (normally just listed as a C shape/profile neck.

The rep thought that the plain C is pretty close to the vintage C. Anyone have any experience with the Vintage versus the Plain?

The vintage style C feels like it has more of a shoulder along the sides (near the fretboard edge) than the plain C carve.

Keep in mind that the size of the fret wire (height and width) has a big effect on how a neck feels in the hand.

That's a nice guitar. (love that Fender went 9.5 that's my preferred radius)

May I add that the Pure Vintage 64s are indeed excellent. (IMO some of the best pups Fender makes)
