That's a good tune! Plenty of space in there for everyone to take a solo too.

Thank You my fellow Clamfest Cohorts.

While researching John Mellencamp, I originally looked at:
R-O-C-K in the USA (J.M. original)
Wild Night (Van Morrison)(J.M. Cover/Remake)

Both songs have driving bass lines, solid rhythms, and extensive accents, with a lot of stop & go. Even though we did "Wild Night" in DC; I don't think either song will get past the L.O.L. I think one rehearsal would be necessary for both songs just to work out the musical timing.

NOTE: I checked out "Live" versions of both songs. The ones I saw (heard) were "sloppy" and of poor sound quality. The studio recorded versions were a better quality and studio balanced, but you could tell the audio enhancement was digital, double tracked, and over dubbed. (drums & percussion alone) Which is why I did not post them.

To make them "jam" tunes, they would have to be modified. Oh Well, I'll keep looking.

Interesting tune Peegoo, I think I can be talked into trying that one.

The voices in my head like it too! Especially with the right medications!

Hello Clammers

I went back to my Motown roots for this one. Now obviously we can't do the original version in a jam setting, but this cover is possible. It's a hard rock variation with simple instrumentation and vocals, but also allows enough room for multiple players to participate and improvise a number of parts.

I went with the recorded version in this case because the live ones I found didn't cut it.

Hello Again Clammers

I couldn't pass up the chance for this one. This is a "Live" Studio version (I know - an oxymoron) with Smokey Robinson & Daryl Hall from the series "Live at Daryl's House". Like I said, I prefer to watch a band play rather than just listen.(Thank you "G" for the lead to this thread, I LOVE it.)

I've been pushing for that Doughboys version for a Clamfest for a while around here. Can't seem to get any traction.

I know K-9, when I first heard it I loved it. I hope we can generate more interest in it with this thread.

I had to throw in the "Live/Studio" version to satisfy the "Many Voices in MY Head".

Hope to see you in the spring.

YES !! The "Many Voices" in my head have come up with another song suggestion.

We did this song at OTL a few years back, and in my opinion, it went over quite well. It is the Chicago version of "I'm a Man": The reason I say the Chicago version is because, it was originally done by the Spencer Davis Group (written by Steve Winwood). The bass-line is a bit different (more driving), and the drum & percussion parts create a "Multi-Syncopated- Poly-Rhythm. (I kid you not, that definition is right out of the Music Books). Anyway, you judge!!
(By the way, I once had hair like that, SIGH!)

HELLO ALL ---- We're Back !!!!

The many voices in my head are really struggling with "Jam Withdrawal Syndrome": they got thru "Thanks-Giving","Black-Friday",and "Cyber-Monday"; But they really "FREAKED-OUT" with all of the Christmas Elevator Music at the Mall. They really needed to be heavily "Sedated" with new Psychotropic Medications (They were GREAT!)

However! They did come up with an interesting song suggestion; I think we did this tune at the last Clamfest, quite successfully.

***The First Order of Business:
Contrary to the rumor being circulated; The Many Voices in my head wish to refute the statement that "WE" are off our meds! "WE" may alter or supplement them at times, but "WE" were never off of them. Moving On!

At the last meeting of the Many Voices, "WE" were discussing "Horn Songs" to suggest. You may like this one.

"WE" would like to apologize in advance to the "Guardian of the List" (G-Man). I could not find any musical charts, lyrics, or sheet music to aid you if this song makes the cut. I have no idea what key it is in, or what the chord progression is. I can only offer suggestions in tempo or rhythm. All hail the Guardian of the List.

Thank you for jumping in wrxplayer; the many voices in my head were beginning to get nervous.

"We" (the many voices) have been searching back in time (my old age) for song possibilities. I've been posting a live song version every couple of weeks to "prime the pump" for Clamfest S.T.I.M. (Some Time In May) at OTL. I like your more modern suggestions, keep them coming.

WE! (the many voices in my head) have survived the onslaught of Christmas Elevator Music. HOWEVER, one more version of "Jingle Bells" could disrupt the balance of therapy and medications needed!

Now:Back to the business of song suggestions.
I have been able to trace this song back to NOLA (New Orleans, Lousiana) from the fifties. It has been done by "The Clovers", "The Coasters", "The Searchers", "Sha-Na-Na", and a host of other artists.

I like "The Searchers" cover; you decide.
