I usually take 2-3.

Sometimes a Tele, sometimes a Les Paul, maybe a PRS, but I *always* take a Strat.

How about you?

Never less than two. Sometimes three if an acoustic is required.

And always a backup amplification scheme (small amp, direct box, etc.).

Yep, I always take a backup amp (usually my Orange TH30, sometimes SCXD, occasionally JVM 215), but my trusty Mustang III has never let me down......... so far ;-)

I hardly ever take an acoustic, but I play our singer's Takamine on a few songs.

I take a Strat and my "Swiss Army Knife" guitar - a Variax JT59. The Variax gives me decent acoustic sounds as well. One amp, a Quilter Aviator 12, and a Fly Rig just in case.

In my gigging days, 2 plus whatever bass I sometimes played on.

I was looked at strangely for having so much stuff.

Last gig I played I brought four, but...it was close to home and I could.

These days I won't be gigging any time soon, but I'd probably need three again (a LP, the Jaguar with the synth pickup, and the VI with synth pickup).

I can hardly believe that when I first started gigging I only had one guitar, single channel amp, no pedals and a tuning fork ;-)

Most of the time a Tele and an acoustic but sometime I take a LP or another Tele.
I take a backup amp too.

Been a long time since I've rock and rolled, but when I did I usually brought 2 in a double gig bag. Typically a Strat and a Tele.

I don't gig anymore but when I did it varied depending on the gig. Sometimes just 2 electrics. If an acoustic was needed, 2 electrics and an acoustic. If I played bass occasionally, 2 electrics and a bass. Always 2 electrics in case I broke a string mid song. Sometimes all 4. I may have taken just one sometimes but not very often.

Often just the one, spare strings in the case. Sometimes two, one with frets and a fretless, Nearly all of them at one time or another, I don't think I've even touched the 5 string in the last few years. Maybe I should string it E to C.

I keep the SansAmp in the gig back too, Haven’t had a bass amp give me any trouble in a long time.

Just one fret off the right note.

I usually bring just my Tele. Our other guitar player brings his Tele along with a Strat or a Jazzmaster for redundancy.

For amps, I bring an old Bassman head as a backup for either my Vibrolux Reverb or his Twin Reverb plus an adapter cable so that it could be hooked up to the speakers in either amp.

Good thing too since last night the bass player's amp crapped out. The Bassman sounded just fine through his cabinet and saved a potential train wreck.

I took two last night, but only in case I broke a string on stage, which only happens when I only bring one guitar.

Here's another thing, I've been gigging for 40 years now (I can't believe it either :-) ) and I've never broken a string, and I use 9's :-)
