Checked the bias and was set at 19 ma with plate voltage of 411. Raised it to 23 and it sounds good now.

I was going to sell it , but decided to at least check the bias. Not something I have done before , but worth the trouble. Got a nice bias probe that also checks plate voltages . Doing the math the dissipation was around 55 percent and now we are at 68 percent. Big difference .

Thanks Foggy. Ive never been one to tinker much . I just hated giving up on a great amp . I love my 68 Princeton right out of the box. The DRRI , not so much , but I figured its worth at least checking the bias and maybe a set of tubes( which came today).

Now onto my Marshall 40c because I dont care for the red channel. I ordered some JJs and will try the bright clip mod. I do love the Marshall though .

I hear ya on the 40c. I don't even use the red channel at all. Only the green, with or without the crunch. Mostly without, but that's just me.
