First I must caution Rob to avoid lest he stick sharp objects in his ears, lol. I've had this melody with some place keeping lyrics since the 80's. I finally wrote a couple verses thinking I need more, but since this was totally schticked on Roy Orbison, the king of 2 minute epics I figured what the hell.

It's a poor presentation of my new Eleven Rack. All I did was my Epi 335 clean through a blackface model. I did get to finally link it up in Pro Tools, so it's a start.

Even more tedious was scripting in these little lap steel licks, brought to you by Rogue at Musician's Friend. Holy cow, I employed a billion takes trying to get decent pitch. Rudimentary to say the least, but fun.

A bit heavy on the vibrato, I know. Roy Orbison, or the cowardly lion? You decide, lol.

Nice mix littleuch and you showed some serious range in your voice at the end. Well done.

Thanks Sharkie. Melodically I painted myself into a corner with the tune as it spans to uncomfortable extremes for my range. Tracking the chorus "I am alive/I will survive!" in my condo made me think the fire department may show up for a wellness check.

Thanks Aaron. I remember coming up with this one on an acoustic piano we had 3 houses ago, so around 1987/88. I think I've employed the minor IV and diminished chord more than once since, ha.

Thanks for listening.

Wow littleuch, you knock me out again! I love the whole thing.

You're a seriously talented vocalist, never mind a great songwriter.

Put this material out, I'd buy a copy!

IT'S NOT OVER until the ride comes to a complete stop.

Talent? - My wife and one of my friends didn't like the song I recently wrote and recorded because it was too depressing. (The song is about my lifelong struggle with depression so what do you expect?)

I guess I'm going to turn it into an instrumental, substituting lead guitar for the vocal melodies.

And I really loved the lyrics too . . .

I find it kind of comical that some people will sit through a horribly depressing movie for 2.5 hrs but pass on a 3 minute song because it doesn't make them dance. People! Whacha gonna do?

While it's not my bag, it doesn't make me run for cover either.

And well, if one can't follow their muse, what's the point of art?

"If one can't follow their muse, what's the point of art?"

That is a frame worthy quote.
