My precious 2-1/2 year old granddaughter was admitted to the hospital yesterday after suffering multiple seizures and running a high fever. The doctors tell us the were Febrile Seizures caused by fever and are common in young children and they usually grow out of them by age 6. We were instructed to give Tylenol at even the hint of fever in the future and now have an Rx for anti-seizure med. Poor baby with all the wires and IV and BP cuff tying her up. She has no clue what is happening to her but she is unhappy about it. On a positive note, when I walked in the room to visit last night, she displayed a brief smile, the 1st since this all started about noon yesterday. We expect her to be released today.

Just want to give a voice of appreciation for the nurses in PIC. What a tough job and they handle it with care and efficiency. It takes a very special person...

Best of luck jhawkr -- I'd be freaked out to see one of my grandbabies suffering like that.

Both my daughter and her husband are nurses -- it's comforting to know that they would be able to handle most emergencies until help arrives.

Best wishes to your granddaughter. May she have a speedy recovery.

And agreed about PIC nurses. I had to take my youngest son in for minor surgery when he was maybe 9 months old, and because of his very young age, they had to run him through full-anesthesia. The doctor and the nurses were exceptionally kind, and understood the crushing anxiety a parent faces under those circumstances. Masters of empathy!

Aria got to leave the hospital and go home this afternoon. She's a bit cranky but doing OK. I'll be putting her new tricycle together tonight and we'll run it over to her this weekend. Grandpa's gotta do what Grandpa's gotta do! :)

Thanks for all the prayers and well-wishes!
