About as ordinary as you can get.

Very clean and original amp. All it might need is a cap job. Those old caps are probably out of tolerance by now.

Welcome msgdman! Just joined myself. Although read FDP for quite awhile. Beautiful Bassman! Chassis must have been opened up for the 3 prong ac cord. Also, what tubes are they? Great find! I found a '66 Princeton Reverb on CL. Mint, original (2 prong ac), Jensen c10n, etc. Get this: got it for $1150. Unbelievable! Well, welcome again!

Had it checked out by Darrin Riley in Raleigh NC, and he said all the caps still checked out fine, so he would not change them, but the tubes were needing to be replaced (Sovtek 5881), so I am having him do that this week.

The original caps may test in spec, but they are a liability. If this is a play-at-home amp, fine.

But if you're gigging with it, it may walk off the job halfway through a set.

Peegoo - I agree, and we talked about that. I am only going to play this at home for fun, so it should not be an issue. I use a HELIX LT through a Friedman Powered Amp when I play out.

Beautiful! My 66 Bandmaster has a piece of masking tape on the chassis that says it was wired by "Josie". Don't see one on yours. Maybe mine was a fluke and they left the tape in. Anyone else seen such a thing?

How bout a pic of the "Josie" wiring, RDR? It would be interesting to see. Have never seen a signed masking tape before in a chassis. Does the masking tape look like Fullerton vintage? Maybe "Josie" is noted in the Fender archives somewhere. Thx

Josie is mentioned in "The first 50 Years" book I believe. I've seen it somewhere.

Welcome aboard, and what an excellent amp. I test drove a 1967 Bassman with Telecaster once, and it COOKED!

Have you or anyone else here run the blackface Bassman through a 1-12 open-back cabinet? I would think that would be a dream set-up.

The Fender Supersonic 60 watt open-back 1-12 combo had me spellbound, but the Twin Reverb demanded to be purchased....so I continue without a mid-range Fender combo amp.

"Have you or anyone else here run the blackface Bassman through a 1-12 open-back cabinet?"

A customer brought me one to be resto-modded. Someone had once modded the amp then someone else had attempted to return it to stock. Both attempts were major fails. I made it stock and reliable again and since the amp now had a grounded power cord I used the unused ground switch to control a negative feedback mod.

This amp had some real spank. Blues tones for days through my 1-12 cab with an EV-SRO-12L.

I might be opening it up soon and will provide a pic. It looks like it's been there since 1966!

This is the only pic I have at this time. The masking tape has "Mary White" and "Josie" signatures.

I would have put a signed tape in there, too. Certain they worked hard at Fullerton.
