...in Vintage Blonde! I want a beater guitar something that I can take to my rehersal studio, to a picnic, camping or a bbq at a friends. I love my 52RI Tele and all my other guitars but they are too precious and delicate to take out on a frequent basis (Gretsches, Gibsons, Fenders etc).

I LOVE Tele's for their tone, versatility, simplicity and they can take rough handling well and are durable. So this led me to a cheaper Tele and after research all fingers pointed towards the classic vibe. My 52 RI is a Butterscotch so I ordered the Vintage blonde. I think it will look really nice with a three ply white pickguard! Hope I made the correct decision. Looking forward to hearing your love stories with the Classic Vibes!

You can't go wrong with the CV's imo.
I'd have a hard time thinking of one as a "beater" though. Just 'cause they don't have a MIA price tag doesn't mean they're an inferior instrument.

I'll be interested to hear what you think about its beater status after you've played it for a while :^)

Congratulations too!

I think Deep’s “beater” application has nothing to do with inferiority. I think it has everything to do with cost/risk ;o)

The CV Tele is a fantastic guitar. It just might be the best Squier ever made.

This guy has done a couple of videos on CV Teles.
This one is on this guitar only.
In another one he compares it to an AVRI 52.

FWIW, he has a ton of videos on YT, and IMO they are among the best.
Not a lot of yakking or wanking.

Outstanding choice. Give it a good setup and don't be surprised if it becomes your No. 1.

Peego is correct. I'm not dissing the CV as inferior in anyway. Just that I'd feel more at ease leaving it in rehersal space or anywhere unattended or for younger kids to bang on etc.

I'm quite excited about changing that black pickguard to white and if the neck is a tad too small for my taste then get a rosewood neck and make it look like a classic Steve Cropper and Mike Bloomfield type mid-60's Tele!

These are nice guitars, but the necks are smaller, including a narrower nut. Depending on you tastes, this might not be an issue.

Please tell me you don't mean to make it look like...

...this Bloomfield Tele?

Te52's not playing fair! :0)

Bloomfield's famous Tele was hacked up by a lefty sometime after Bloomfield had it.

Yes, that is true. Bloomfield traded the Tele for the gold top Les Paul he is often pictured with. You can hear some more of the story...

Had a pal come by last night and we worked on figuring out some tunes. Yeah, it's dead easy to go online and find charts, but it's great ear exercise to slog through the wrong chords until you find the correct ones.

And we played Telecasters. I usually play a Les Paul Std or Junior these days, but DANG I need to play a Tele more often! I was reminded why I got one in the first place.

This one is meant as a gift for my fourteen year old son but I might just get too greedy and only loan it to him :-)

He is slowly getting serious about guitars and I want him to start off on a Telecaster cos I belief you just cant fake it on a Tele and it makes you work harder. Also the Telecaster is the best electric for fingerstyles. Hope he will have a great learning experience on this one.

So I picked itup yesterday and WOW! what a Tele! Amazin fit and finish and tone for the price!

Some minor things bothering me are-
1. It’s a tad heavier than my 52RI, just a tiny bit.
2. I think the black guard is a bit of an eye sore so definitely getting some kinda white pickguard for it soon.
3. The tone and volume knobs on my 52RI has those tiny screw holes that works as a reference point to setting your tone and vol settings, very helpful, whereas this one does not. Minor issues. Lovely guitar otherwise!

My son was like....so Dad what is SOOO different between this new one and your 52RI...hmm...I'm still thinking :-)

"...those tiny screw holes that works as a reference point..."

Easy fix Deep. A few small drill bits up to 3.5mm; some nail polish and...

voila!!
