I used to have a narrow panel Tweed Super.
Foolishly let it get away.
I am now ready to get another but also have an interest in a first year Brownface Super.
The vibrato is killer on those, but I have never owned one.
I am asking for advice.

I have a 5G4 Super that rocks. Yes, the vibrato is killer. I have Princetons and Deluxes in both versions. If pressed, I'd keep the Brown Princeton and the Tweed Deluxe. I guess it boils down to individual amp and owner. Having said that my life would be seemingly complete with a '57-'59 Super.

Hi Ezra!

From my (rather limited) experience, I´d rather go with Tweed over brown face.
I used to own a ´63 Super for a couple of years, and while I liked it very much, it turned out not to be "a keeper" - as did my brown Deluxe and Princeton ;-)

To my ears the browns had a certain kind of "middiness" (is that a word?) that I could never dial out.
Not the case with Tweeds and/or blackface-amps...

I´d be settled with a Tweed and blackface Deluxe - oh wait, i AM settled with those two amps ;-)

The Tweed Deluxe is just a "clone", but the bf Deluxe is one of the very last - from January ´67!

cheers - C.

After 30 years, I should play better.

I recently acquired a tweed Champ.

I have played with browns. They're nice.

This amp makes me very happy.

Today I tried a real 59 Bassman, a 60 Brownface Concert and a 60 Brownface Super.
After much comparison I bought the Super.
They all sounded good but the Super had a little something extra.
Still want a nice Tweed too.

Hi ezra1!

Congrats on your new/old amp!

Must have been fun to play these vintage beauties side-by-side ;-)

cheers - C.

Played some blues today.
Amp volume at 7.
Heritage 535 w WCR Filmores volume at 5-6 on chords and 8 on solos.
Nice harmonic breakup.

I have a '61 Concert and a '57 low power tweed Twin (clone, I built it). They are my two favorite amps period.

If I could keep only one it would be a tough choice of which one had to go. I'd have to offer them both for sale and let the one go that sold first.

Hello ezra1. Just wondered if you have seen a narrow panel Tweed Super for sale? Can't imagine that there are a lot of them around.
