I was wondering what the first comment would be here!
Good one Larry! And points to Piney!

It's sort of a refin, but more of a radical make-over. Or, as Hollywood likes to say, a "re-imagining".

I'll reveal more soon...
with pics to follow.

I’m late so I’ll abstain from the snarkery.

Maybe later.

Ok, starting point is a very neglected Epi LP Special II. Picked it up on-the-cheap off of Gumtree.

This one came with custom "green" frets and hardware ;^)

Let the transformation begin...

That's the oddest switch placement I've seen in a while.

It’s one of their cheap screw-neck guitars they regularly sold at GC for $99.

These can be turned into nice players with some fretwork and TLC.

I vote for Popsicle purple!

Yeah, bolt-on neck and cheap yes, but not 99 dollar cheap here unfortunately. Still a good platform for short money. Also cheaper and better quality than any of the DIY kits that come out of China.

As for the switch placement, it actually works better than you might think, but I rotate the whole thing 90 degrees so it switches horizontally.

Sorry, no Popsicle Purple. Colour scheme is already decided for this one. Maybe next time :^)

They made a bunch of these lefties and they used to come up regularly on CL a few years ago.

Are you going to surprise us with the color?

“Are you going to surprise us with the color?”

Hopefully with more than just the colour.

It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get it finished and I won’t post any “in progress” pics until then, so I’m sure this thread die quietly until the big reveal :^)

Nine days in and I'm very pleased with the progress so far.

Finish has gone smoothly also. I have a few more coats of clear to go on tomorrow and then let it cure for 7 days before polishing.

Got all my pickups & hardware ready to go now.
I'm getting excited about this one!

We don't believe you.

We're gonna need to see some pics or you'll be charged with filing a false FDP report. The Authorities have been notified!
