I Dare To Be Different
May 3rd, 2018 04:30 AM   Edit   Profile

My sister, brother in law, and nephew were visiting for a few days. On Monday, my BIL, nephew, and I visited a couple of the local guitar stores. On Tuesday, we went to three others, winding up at Southpaws. My BIL spotted a used Rickenbacker 4003 bass in a room of high end Martins. He played for a few minutes (upside down), then my nephew played it, and finally I tried playing it. Anyways, my BIL said, "If you ever wanted a bass, this is the one to get." So I talked to Jimmy, agreed on a price, and the bass followed me home.

BTW, on Sunday before we went to the various guitar shops, I had given my '40s era Rickenbacker double neck lap steel to my nephew, along with a DR Z Mini amp.

My nephew & I with our "new to us" Rickenbackers.

You're old. Then vintage. Then good!

Very cool! My son just received his Ric 4003 bass (in deep blue - and right handed) that he waited a year for! But he loves it.

Every guitarist should learn to play some bass; it's a blast! When I get my bass out, though, I tell people, "I don't play the bass...I play AT the bass..."

Beautiful bass. I may need to add one of those to the heard.
