I know this forum is for Fenders but I'm curious about other high-end Tele makers (Lentz, Kirn, Suhr, Nash, etc), who here has one and what you think of them compared to higher-end Fender?

Once you get past the $2K cost, the differences are mostly cosmetic. The ROI rapidly starts to fall off as price increases.

I had a Lentz, and I've played other names, and it really comes down to what you like.

The CS '63 Telecaster Time Machine Relic I have now is the finest Tele I've ever played.

A couple of months ago in GP, the one with Brad Paisley on the cover, they had a section where they listed a bunch of boutique Teles.
No real in depth reviews, though. They did do a discussion of the BP Tele and had a review of it also.
If nothing else you could use this as a list for your search.
I see that you're in California. If you go to a few area shows, especially the Amp Show in Van Nuys in the fall, you may find a few boutique makers show up where you can sample their wares.

Funny you should mention the 63, Peegoo...
I lucked into a used '63 Closet Classic a little over a decade ago and it's been love ever since.
Oy, those pickups! Oy, that neck!

These builders have been lefty-friendly so there are some backwards guitars out there. It seems like they show up on the used market a fair bit.

I’m at a point now where I’d build my own. I just crossed the paint hurdle.

archiestone, now I want a red one!

The neck is fat for a 60s-era Tele. And yes--the pickups are really juicy sounding and huge when cranked up through a good amp. The closest thing is the Twisted Tele set. It's a rock and roll machine.

One of the nicer booteek Teles I've played was a Kelton Swade. They have a sort of grungy look to them but they play like butter.

"The closest thing is the Twisted Tele set."

Good to know. I've heard there are devotees who wanted Fender to issue the '63 CS pups in an aftermarket version -- alas, to no avail.

My neck, incidentally, bears the signature of 40 year veteran neck-shaping Fender God Herb Gastelum at the heel. The beefy profile + those pups are what made the guitar a must-have for me.

This past December I found an amazing '03 Tom Anderson Hollow T Drop Top in mint condition in a pawnshop for $1200.

It does everything I'd need out of a Tele Style guitar. It's a HSH with the Switcharoo switches.

I can cover just about any style with this guitar and the guitar weighs a about 6 1/2 lbs.

The other Teles in my collection don't come close to it,but then they're not high end Fender Teles.

I have played plenty of Fender Custom Shop Teles in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston.

None of them can touch this Tom A Hollow T.

I've tried some Suhr Tele style guitars also, but I just didn't like the necks, and they didn't have to tonal options my Tom A Hollow T does.

Here's a pic of my Tom A Hollow T Drop Top:
