Thanks, I'm doing well. Had my follow-up appointment today where they took off the $884 battery powered bandage and they took more X-rays and everything looks to be fine.

In anticipating different outcomes in my mind it never occurred me that this would go even better than the last time, and indeed it did. There's no numb / tingling sensation on my thigh that took eight or nine months to go away like last time.

And just like last time, I started refusing pain meds the minute I woke up... haven't had the need to take anything other the aspirin they give me to make sure I don't have any blood clotting.

I've been getting around without a walker or cane, although the steps are a bit challenging, and overall it was a good experience except for the fact that my dog died on Saturday.

So three months of taking it easy and then I should be able to do anything I could do before.

P.S. That hospital is chock-full of good-looking nurses.

WOW. Great news!

They really are tweaking this surgery to be as easy on the patient as possible. Amazing.

It's a PICO Dressing, which is a "negative pressure wound therapy" type-of-thing. It's a pretty awesome bit of technology, but you can't get it wet.

So...

I broke my personal record and went 7 days without a shower.

Glad to hear your surgery went well. Sorry your hound passed.

On the bright side, riding season is about here, and you'll be on the bike before you know it. :)

Great news on your recovery. Hadn't ever heard of that PICO dressing before. Also, very sorry to hear your little teacup Yorkie. We have a soft place in our heart when it comes to Yorkies and Shih Tzus. Actually, all dogs, really. Are you considering getting another dog?

Hey Pinetree, do you think my MD might let me use trekking poles instead of a cane or walker?

Seeing ortho/hip guy next week to discuss implications of my case.
