There are seven Gibson lower-end SG's and Lesters
for under $600 on Sam Ash web site.

Enjoy

Yep. If I were wrong-handed, I'd get that one too.

I bought a right-handed LP Jr. from them a while back. It has the robo tuners. I like it for noodling. The tuners allow you to change tunings by pressing a button.
How would this sound in open G? Press a button a few times and the robots do the rest.

It should be here Tues. or Weds. Review to follow.

It’s the one linked above. Apparently it was the last one. Red, P90s, ‘50s neck profile. It has the robotuners, but Rob has me over my disdain of them.

I'm sure you'll like it. The tuners can be a bit glitchy when the charge runs down, but they're fun to play with. Are you a fan of 24 fret necks?

Not a whole lot. I only have one now. A pointy headstock wang bar Ibanez.

But I’ve wanted a Gibson with P90s for forever. And I’ll mostly live on the bridge pickup. The 24 fret reposition won’t be a big deal.

Way to go, Eric! We'll be waiting for your review.

That's a really good price on a Gibby.

Thanks!

This fills a nice spot for me. I'm hoping this is a good guitar. I'd hate to send it back, at that price, but I would if there's an issue with it.

The jr I bought was a 2015. It is flawless. There’s a pic of the body in my profile. Paid $479 for it. Someone on the fdp said that Sam Ash bought all of Gibson’s unsold back stock.

That’s a nice backwards guitar!

I seem to remember that about SA as well. Last year Rocky and I graced a SA in Columbus, OH. They had tons of Gibsons, including quite a few lefties.

Sweet Junior!

Be careful with the edge of the scratch plate...the top edges can be pretty sharp on these. It will take the skin off your knuckles.

You can easily fix the problem by removing the plate and gently dragging the edge of a knife along the top corner all the way around the plate. You don't need to remove a lot of material; just that sharp edge.

Don't do the straight section that butts against the end of the fingerboard; it will maintain that nice clean fit that way.

Another method is to wrap some 400-grit paper around a pencil and use it in the same manner as the blade.

If you use the abrasive paper without a backer (pencil, dowel, etc.), you risk pressing the paper against the flat face of the plate as you work and scratching the nice shiny surface.

I was not aware the original 50's SG's had Robo tuners.

They did - designed by Isaac Asimov. The amazing stuff you learn here, huh?!?

Thanks for the tip, Geno!

Now... back to assembling this inversion table.

Thanks, guys.
You’re right Peegoo. Since I took that picture I chamfered the edges and replaced the witch hats with speed knobs.

Yes littleuch, in the fifties they were called Robbie the robo tuners

First gen. Robo tuner
