I have never owned a Pro Junior. I have stuck with the Blue Junior as my main amps, as I like the Reverb.
I generally don't like the tweaks that ruin the classic vibe of an amp, like the black control panel. This IV version has chrome and seems to only come in Tweed?
How does this IV version compare to the original 1993?
Basically, just some minor tweaks for smoother responses?

Sorry, I just noticed the other Pro Junior thread.
Well, maybe a slightly different discussion here.

As I understand it the new model stays cleaner longer. A good thing in my estimation. Also, the distortion supposedly is tweaked. Maybe a bit 'tighter'?. Gotta say though, hopefully Fender will offer it in black.

It's also brighter especially with the Jensen P10r.

Anyone been using one of these? Especially for small venues.

I also think they've moved from plywood to MDF on the new amps in that series, if it matters to you.

MDF vs Wood
As far as the performance factor, the difference is extremely overrated. Long ago I looked into the attributes of MDF and found 99% of supposed cons in reference to guitar cabs that get bantered around on the internet were BS.
The cabinet baffle and size of the cab have more to do with the tonality variance than the medium difference between wood and MDF.

I don't disagree, I'm just pointing out that it was a spec change.

Hi guys!
It seems like the PJ is the only one of the new IV-series that has NOT got a plywood-cabinet - but I haven't seen one up close yet...
Otoh - ALL of the Blues/HotRod series amps have/had plywood baffle-boards.
cheers - C.

Any Pro Junior users ever use an attenuator? If so your thoughts? Thanks.

Just bought a IV two hours ago. It is what it is. A simple and small, nasty-sounding rippah!

Played my Pro Junior IV out tonight for the first time since I bought it new two weeks ago. 40 people inside the room, only a few out on the patio. (Hot here still, even at 8:00 p.m.) Played a Squier Tele with a NUX Horseman pedal.
Pedal volume was a half-hair louder than the amp. Amp volume was just under 7, tone at 3.5. Result? Compliments x 5, 6 about the tone. Other guitar players, audience members. Basically that little box stood out. Cleaned up, overdriven...it all sounded great. Not 'boxy' at all.
My buddy used my phone to shoot 30 second snippets, so I have heard it from that context as well. It really is a competent, small, and lightweight grab 'n go snarlfest.

Traded my tweed IV in for a new fawn IV. The looks were part of it but also my tweed was more 'trebly'. New IV has a warmer, slightly 'middier' sound. And, for a good omen, it was built on my birthday 11 days back.
