I have not posted on here in some time but the last guitar that I bought was one of the LTD 401VF guitars 2 years ago (Les Paul type with a full thickness mahogany body and the maple cap)and it came/comes with a set of the Dimarzio "no-cover" 36th Anniversary PAF pups. The first model of this guitar came with Semour Duncans and they switched to the Dimarzo for whatever reason. I never played an earlier model with the Duncans but I am highly impressed with the 36th Anniversary PAF.
Sounds to me exactly like a vintage PAF should sound like in a Les Paul in all positions, from warm highs in treble to thick and creamy in rhythm when you roll off the tone. I know that folks spend several hundred dollars on boutique pups but these are reasonably priced and I think they nail it. Especially when you hit an open chord with some distortion and the guitar just rings on forever with undertones until a smooth harmonic feedback rings out.
Thoughts from those who have tried them?

I put them in a PRS SE Custom and loved them. The Guitar was gifted to my son and he loves it.

Excellent vintage tone! One of the best out there I think.
