In the Mara River this morning. Hippos are *the* most dangerous animal, each year racking up more human kills worldwide than any other animal.

Captured this with my iphone.

Kenya is an amazing place.

You don't wanna be standing behind them either when they get that helicopter tail thing going, either. I understand they have a range of about 40 feet.

You don’t want to get between them and their marbles, I’m sure!

Getting between a hippo and water is more dangerous than getting between a lioness and her cubs.

We saw lions kill a zebra today. We also saw a Thompson's gazelle being born. It was amazing.

This all happens on the Masai Mara; there are no fences. Animals are everywhere. Here's a partial list of what we've seen.

Lions
Rhinos
Hippos
Crocs
Zebras
Topis
Waterbucks
Reedbucks
Wildebeests
Hartebeests
Dik-diks
Spotted hyenas
Striped hyenas
Leopards
Cheetahs
Cerval cats
Jackals
Bat-eared foxes
Warthogs
Giraffes (all three species)
Elephants
Cape buffalos
Hyrexes
Leopard tortoises
Terrapins

And birds of all kinds.

A person quickly runs out of words to describe what they experience here.

Yes, a wee little deer about the size of a chihuahua.

They mate for life and are quite cute!

It's amazing how agile they are in the water. I once saw a video on YouTube of a hippo chasing a power boat. The dang thing was keeping up for a bit.

Scary.

They are extremely agressive. Even the large crocs keep their distance.
