And here are Mike and Caterina..

She on a "Seiffert" style mandolin I believe made by Woll in Germany (I owned two genuine Seifferts.. a mandolin and a mandola)

Mike is playing a Mando-Cello made by John Monteleone.

And in the same family as the modern "Irish" Bouzouki.. here is Mike Marshall talking about the Mando Cello. This particular mando cello was made by John Monteleone.

If you want to forward to Bach.. go to 1:50 and for something a little more modern 5:00.

The Irish Bouzoukis are derived from the mandolin family and not form the Greek Bouzouki.

The "Irish" family of instruments would be
the Bouzouki with 8 strings and the Citern with 10 strings and with a larger body the "Blarge"

I believe it was builder Sobell who was the original developer of these instruments. ( not of the mando cello... Gibson and Washburn had a hand in these)

And here is one of the pioneers of Irish Traditional Music players going back to 1979.

The instrument was custom built for Donal by Andy Manson .
