... as an NRA member.

I have thought about it many times in the past and just never stopped to actually do it.

I guess it just took the right extra motivation to get me on it.

Good for you! I've been a life member for about 25 years now after first joining as a yoot on an annual basis.

CO2 ... is there anything it can't do?
Feb 24th, 2018 11:29 AM   Edit   Profile   Print Topic   Search Topic

I still hold my nose and send them a check every year. If nothing else, the thirty bucks is money well spent just to piss off the antis. I don't even put the NRA sticker on my truck because I know I can count on some unhinged SJW to vandalize my vehicle if they see it.

The NRA does nothing for us in my state so I ignore their weekly mailings looking for more money -- we have other state level pro 2A orgs that I support much more than the NRA.

Been a member for years. I pay annually though, not a lifetime member.

"I pay annually though, not a lifetime member."

That is what I did.

I'm sure they like the steady stream income every bit as much as the large one time contribution.

I did notice they offer quarterly or monthly payment plans on the lifetime membership.

I was a member for about 20 years but tired of their constant badgering for more $ and for membership renewals. They would do this within a couple of months of my actually renewing.

I wrote them a couple of letters explaining my concerns with nothing changing on their part, so I withdrew my membership.

Perhaps it's time to give them another try.

"Perhaps it's time to give them another try."

Viera, I think that is a great idea.

"I was a member for about 20 years but tired of their constant badgering for more $ and for membership renewals."

Many organizations of people operate exactly like that.

Hey, you seem to enjoy the FDP and (with due respect to CG) there is certainly an amount of what some might call "badgering" that goes on right here. :)

This is SOP for any organization from the Humane Society to Wounded Warriors. You shouldn't be offended by the solicitation and you shouldn't be offended to say NO. I do it all the time. I stopped giving to the Humane Society three years ago when they started sending me calls for action to stop cougar and bear hunting in Utah. They are still puzzled why I would do such a thing but it's always NO for them until they butt out of the domain of wildlife resources.

BTW, after letting my wife carry the NRA banner for a few years, I just joined and will continue to support them. My grandfather and father were members and it is time for me to do what I can to protect everyone's individual freedom to possess firearms. A couple of months ago Charlie Daniels' himself handed my wife his fiddle bow at the end of the show because she was wearing her NRA gear so there are fringe benefits, at least for the fairest among us.

I quit after many years for the reasons Viera did. I doubt I'll be renewing my membership. Funds are limited these days and there are more important priorities.

In light of recent developments, I renewed for 5 years and changed credit card companies.

"In light of recent developments"

Pinetree, I think it goes without saying that I too was motivated by current events.

Just reluctant to press the topic/discussion in that direction.

I can add: The prices on the link above are the same as the prices on the NRA Membership site this morning.
