This looks like a great honeymoon. (-;

It was funny to see your recording distraction with the bacon on the hoof trotting through the scene.

LOL right!

We hopped into a bush plane and flew east to Elsa’s Skopje safari camp. On the ride from the airstrip to the camp we saw giraffe, elephant, cape buffalo, gazelle, velvet monkeys, zebra, ans several other bunches of critters.

This camp is quite remote, but they have a solar inverter power system and wifi. There’s a pool, a bar, and a massage joint. The food is amazing. The manager, George, is very much like the dangerous game guide from the original Jurassic Park film, but a whole lot nicer. He and his wife are Dutch, and he has years of experience as a guide and camp manager. We’re taking a wildlife drive this afternoon and will do a ‘sundowner’ in the bush, complete with munchies and drinks.

Looks like a wonderful trip. Keep the updates coming. It's probably the only way I'll ever see it.

A-ok.

We saw a pride of eight lions that had just killed a cape buffalo. They were laying in a creekbed, their bellied big and round. One young male walked right up to the open land cruiser, and Wilson (our guide) said, “keep really still...”. Nobody freaked out, but my hunnie scooted in her seat toward the center of the land cruiser.

When a predator like a lion looks you in the eye, and there are no bars between you, it puts you ina mental place that is not exactly comfortable.

Nothing like making eye contact with a top-of-the-food-chain predator first thing in

Because they see the Land Cruiser as a single entity. If we moved around too much in the vehicle, or dismounted, it would probably become an item on the 11 o’clock news tonight.

I’m trying to work the help desk while you’re gone. So there will be some cleanup required when you get back.

We had a close encounter with elephants today. They approached the Land Cruiser to check us out. It was cool until they got within 20 feet of the vehicle. They are very curious creatures and the most intelligent of all beasts out here in the bush. I didn’t get any video because I was too busy snapping stills.

We had a leopard outside the cabin again last night. It was hunting the many hyrax that live here on the kopje. The hyrax is a cute little creature about the size of a cottontail rabbit.

We gots us an infestation of rock hyraxes!

Man, those things have “prey” written all over them.
