The big gray heron who migrates up here has appeared at the pond across the street, earlier than usual. Temps forecast in the 40s and 50s for the rest of the month, barely below 32 two nights. I put the snow shovels away. Yeah, there's usually some snow in March, but pfft, it's done.

Good call. I hope you're right. My harbinger of Spring is the return of the Red Wing blackbird to the ditch along our road. He covers our mailbox with his filth and squawks at every passing vehicle. So far no sign of him.

We're getting 40 degree plus temperature swings here, motorcycles one day... snow plows the next.

Way to go Prof -- a bold prediction like this only pisses Ma Nature off.

I'll see your "pfft" and raise you a Nor'easter with two feet of that white crap that the skiers like the first week of March.

Thanks, Pal.

NSR, I walk under ladders, step on cracks, spill salt, and like aces and eights. Friday the 13th is a party...I have a black cat who is always passing in front of me...

I just planted a Texas Bottlebrush tree out front. It replaces the Hibiscus we had out there that Irma wounded and last month's hard freezes killed. Its 85f and feels like July.

We're getting that vibe in Austin too. Isabella the Box Turtle awakened today. She brumated (reptilian version of hibernation) indoors this winter. Shellby the hard-core was outside again. We'll hopefully see her emerge soon, but emergence dates have been as late as late March.

As of this Thursday, it will be over for me. I'll be in Kenya for a few weeks. It's their summertime there.

We may finally know the answer to "Does Peegoo taste like chicken?".

I just shoveled 6" of heavy wet snow. It's only the third snowstorm here in SLC that required clearing. We're at 60% of normal precipitation so I hope winter carries on for another month.

While we're enjoying sunny days, temps have dropped into the low 40s and strong winds ripped SoCal yesterday.

I woke up to 26 degrees this morning. Very cold for SoCal. As Jack said SoCal winds just ripped yesterday. I had to wind up all the patio shades as they were about to be ripped from their mountings.

It's supposed to be 60 daytime this week with the overnight lows right at freezing. My pigmy date palms might suffer and freeze. Possible showers on Thursday, We need rain badly. My part of town has had only 1.7" since last July. Normal is about 13" coming in the winter months.
