Did Fender make any black-line, drip-edge reverb units?
Thanks,
Jim

The tube reverb unit was replaced with a solid-state design in 1966 but reappeared in 1976 with a silver control panel and black tolex according to a few sources I've checked.

I don't see any mention of a black-line drip-edge version.

I have the FR1000 solid state reverb unit. I did some internet homework before buying one and it turned out to be true. The Fr1000 is a damn good reverb unit, yes it's SS but you can nit tell and it really meld to your amp.

Not popular with some because it won't drip as the tube units will do. However, it will come really close to dripping (thus making surf music doable if you wish) I don't play surf music so its perfect. If you see one for sale, I'd recommend getting one if it's in decent shape and a decent price.

IF you're not doing surf music it's outstanding.

I too have a FR1000 that I bought new in the mid-60's. It doesn't get too much use, based on my playing style, no longer in a band. I also have a Fender FE-1000 tape echo chamber, bought about the same time as the reverb. Though it "works" mechanically, since the tape is the original (it's been sitting dormant all these years), it does not play back. Used to require constant attention when we used it, keeping the heads clean.

I've had an original, brown tolex/flat logo one as well as a black tolex, RI with white "transitional" knobs.

In 1976 I bought a mine blackface Fender reverb unit in a pawn shop for $5. They thought it was just a little Fender amp that didn't work.

I have seen a couple of silverface units dressed up to look like drip-edge amps. One was made to match a player's other gear, but one was for sale and being misrepresented.

As previously stated there are no "real" ones.
